CURL's Goal:

On The CURL Color Usage Website:
Develop improved methods for assuring and enhancing the quality of information display in aerospace operations.

Background:
Aviation information displays now coming into widespread use have reached map-like complexity. For these displays designers can only assure legibility and good attention management with designs that consider relations among all of the graphic elements. Two broad kinds of improvements are needed:

a) For designers and certifiers, quality assurance needs to focus on performance in graphic context rather than individual graphic elements.

b) For aviation users, better tools are required to assist the individual user in getting and maintaining the benefits of the interface design.
