Software. These
are a few free tools that I have found useful. There are also many commercial
programs for production of color documents and for management of color
display and printing.
Colorsieve
download . We have found this nifty freeware tool for the
Mac, from Mark Womack, indispensable for our color graphics work.
The
application
displays
the color value in the display card and the screen coordinates for
the pixel that the mouse is currently pointing to, with a magnified
view
of adjacent pixels. The Digital Color Meter that is bundled with the
Mac OS has many of the same functions.
Visibone.
Includes a number of interesting resources for website color design,
some free, some for purchase. One of them, Color
Lab, is a free interactive web tool for selecting colors from the
"web-safe" color set. It has several clever and useful features.
Psychophysics
Toolbox. This is a free software library that runs in Matlab.
While mostly useful
to
color vision researchers,
there are modules that do many useful technical things relating to
color display.
