What I Do and What Drives Me as a Design Leader
Over the last decade I've actively led design teams for Chegg and Apple. I instinctively champion a thoughtful and detail-oriented design culture. I seek out, hire, and grow great designers. I encourage creativity around process, specialization, and product vision.
I have a strong user-centric point of view. I'm often the most active voice
for the customer in the room. My degree in Human Factors only enhanced my
abilities to design with the customer in mind. I should probably write a
book on the subject, but that's for later.
Right now, I love making complexity feel simple. My favorite projects have been either
complex worldwide projects or the creation of new platforms -- sometimes both.
These types of challenges
are part of what gets me excited about design every day. If there's a hairy,
large-scale design problem that requires a simple customer-facing solution,
my bosses know I'm the one for the job.
During my career, I've been privileged to work for brands that truly believe
and invest in design. As long as I have a choice, I will continue to work
in that type of environment.
